Sandy Buttine | Occupational Therapist
Sandy is the owner of Playworks and she brings to the practice over 35 years of pediatric experience. Sandy called Wisconsin, Arizona, California, Virginia and Connecticut home before moving to Texas 26 years ago. She holds certifications in neurodevelopmental therapy (NDT), assessment and treatment of sensory integration disorders (SIPT), Interactive Metronome and SOS Feeding therapy. She has also completed the Handwriting Without Tears and Therapeutic Listening courses. She has completed the DIR-B certification program. Areas of specialty include zero-three year olds, early childhood intervention, pediatric neurological disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, non-verbal learning differences and sensory integration disorders. Sandy received her occupational therapy degree from the University of Southern California- GO TROJANS!! She is the proud mom to Tom and Sara. Her free time is spent quilting, gardening, baking, crafting and volunteering. In 2103 and 2014 Sandy was nominated to be a Mom Approved Health Care Professional by Dallas Child Magazine.
Robin Rakovchik | Occupational Therapist
Robin received her Bachelor’s of Science in psychology from Texas Women’s University. She also attended TWU for graduate school where she received her Master’s in occupational therapy. Robin is SIPT certified and has completed multiple continuing educational courses, including courses in praxis, NDT, social emotional development and Handwriting Without Tears. She is also a team leader for our therapeutic preschool program. In her spare time, Robin enjoys the outdoors, traveling, painting, yoga and spending time with family, friends and her dogs, Howie and Lola.
Casey Rhea | Occupational Therapist
Casey received her occupational therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University. She is certified in the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT) and also holds certificates in Interactive Metronome, Therapeutic Listening, and Beckman’s Oral Motor Protocol. Casey has received additional training in Handwriting Without Tears, neurodevelopmental technique, kinesiology taping, and vestibular training program. Growing up in Central Texas, Casey is a Texas native. She has proudly been a part of the Playworks team for 11 years, and enjoys working with the pediatric population. Casey now lives in Rockwall, TX with her husband, Jason, her crazy cat and silly Chihuahua. In her spare time, Casey enjoys creating craft projects at home, live music, game nights and traveling to the beach.
Hannah Birkbeck | Occupational Therapist
Hannah received her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) then went on to pursue her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy at Brenau University in Atlanta, Ga. She has spent the entirety of her career working with pediatrics, from schools to home health to eventually Playworks. She has called Dallas home since 2015, and in her spare time, Hannah enjoys exploring new areas of Dallas with her family and friends, traveling, and watching the Dawgs play.
Beatty Arnold | Occupational Therapist
Beatty received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University. She then received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from LSU-Health Sciences Center Shreveport. Beatty moved to Dallas in 2015 to begin her career in pediatrics. She enjoys traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Collins Harris | Occupational Therapist
From New Orleans, Collins received her Bachelor of Sciences in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University. She continued her education at LSU where she received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Collins is SIPT certified and has participated in the Handwriting Without Tears and Motor Planning workshops. When she is away from the office, Collins enjoys outdoor activities of all kinds. She is also enjoying being a new aunt.
Mallory Rich | Speech Therapist
Mallory graduated from Louisiana Tech University where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts and Masters of Arts in Speech Language Pathology. She completed her final clinical rotation at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Afterwards, She moved to Dallas, TX and happily joined the Playworks therapy team. Mallory has gained experience working in an elementary school, pediatric hospital and a private setting where she has worked with a variety of pediatric clients. In her free time, she enjoys running with her dog, Crew, and spending time with family and friends.
Nirali Mandalaywala | Speech Therapist
Nirali grew up in Temple, TX and went on to receive her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from UT Austin (hook ‘em!) She then went on to pursue her Master’s of Science in Communication Disorders from UT Dallas. Nirali has clinical experience serving children with a variety of needs in both private outpatient clinics and in the public school setting. She also has experience working with children on AAC devices. During her time in the public school, she conducted evaluations for children ages 2-11 years of age and served as the lead SLP for a preschool program for students with speech impairments. After 2.5 years in the public school setting, she happily joined Playworks and is a team leader in our therapeutic preschool program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling, cooking, and doing yoga.
Layne Shidlofsky | Speech Therapist
Layne Shidlofsky grew up in Dallas, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Indiana University and her Master’s of Science degree in Communication Disorders from The University of Texas at Dallas. Layne has clinical experience serving children in both the public and private school setting, pediatric outpatient settings, and a therapeutic preschool were she has worked with a variety of pediatric clients. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and being with her friends and family.
Anna Iwema | Speech Therapist
Anna grew up in Dallas and went on to move 3 hours West where she graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in communication disorders and sciences. She then returned to Dallas to study at The University of Texas at Dallas and received her Master’s of Science degree. Anna interned at Playworks while studying at UT Dallas and was happy to rejoin the team. She has clinical experience in home health, early childhood intervention, public school, and private practice settings and specializes in pediatric feeding, language, and AAC. In her free time, she enjoys running, camping, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with family, friends and her cat Mika.
Paula Wardell | Office Manager
Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Paula has called the Dallas area home for over 30 years. She has been with Playworks as Office Manager since 2004. She is the glue that keeps the office running smoothly. Not only is she the first contact for our families, she is the “go-to girl” for the entire staff. Outside of interacting with the children and their families at Playworks, you can find her cheering on the Dallas Stars. Known as BeBee to her grandchildren, who she spends most weekends with, she enjoys spending time in the pool as well as taking her dog, Paisley, for long walks.
